Hello. How have you been? I recognise that it has been a long time since I wrote. For those who follow the blogs, you may see a common theme running:
– Greg gets busy…or life gets busy and Greg gets caught up in a bit of a whirlwind
– Greg doesn’t write a blog for a very long time
– Greg comes up with a long excuse for why he hasn’t written for a while
Well, I guess, straight out of the gate, it is only fair to answer the question:
“Where have you been??”
Well, this past year has been very incredibly busy. My wife and I bought a house. I learnt a whole bunch of DIY skills. There was a show in the 90s called ‘Home Improvement’, about a DIY TV celeb who is also a dad trying to raise some kids. It was a heart felt silly sitcom which was very popular at the time. Why do I mention it? Well, the main character, Tim (I think), loves power tools and utters a neanderthal type grunt whenever he is operating one.
And I guess I have been that tool man, grunting while figuring out how to keep the walls from falling down.
Anyway, I digress.
And I come back to —- bought a house. For anyone who has done this, you will know it is one of the most stressful things you could do. A lot of paperwork, a lot of sitting and waiting, a lot of time spent going back and forth between solicitors and surveyors etc.
So yes, that’s where I have been.
My computer also joined the circuit boards in the clouds, so for a while I have been doing much of my work via mobile phone / tablet which is not as easy and quite cumbersome at times.
And I guess I am back?
Well let’s say that I am back after a while, but I can’t guarantee when I will write again, because, you will guess it, life gets busy, and life stays busy.
Last time I wrote was in February, about looking ahead.
Looking ahead – Wellness by Greg
In that blog I dangled the proposition: “Think about your year ahead. Think of three things you want to do or change in your life.”
For those who do read the blogs, did you ponder on the thought?
For me, it was to change and improve on living circumstances.
And I can say that this has been achieved.
But what of the other things? Improve on my career? Improve on my relationships?
Well, it would seem this year has been focused on one thing really.
And maybe next year I will be able to focus more on my career and more on my relationships.
If this year has taught me one thing, is that its sometimes good to not put everything on your plate. If its one thing, focus on that. When you have completed that, then look to the next thing.
Come January 2025, the proposition I may present, and one for you to ponder on I guess therefore will be, “Think about your year ahead. Think of one thing you want to do or change in your life.”
And maybe that’s ok. Maybe doing one thing at a time isn’t all that bad.
So here we are, all caught up.
So this is what I have been up to.
So what’s next?
Well, for those who know me, or don’t know me, I work in the field of neurodiversity, and I am seeing increasingly more complex cases of people who have ADHD.
A direction I may wish to explore may be the neurodiverse route.
Every now and then I will write a bit about neurodiversity.
And if you have a question, ask me.
And if I don’t know, I will do the research and get back to you.
And I guess that is as any of a good place to start.
As this year draws to a close I do have one thing I would like to discuss: mobile phones, social media, and young minds. It is something I would like to discuss before the end of the year. It is a matter that it close to my heart at the moment.
But lets see how the next few weeks go.
But until then, its good to be back.
